Greetings, Fossilized community!

As we continue shaping the future of Fossilized, we’re thrilled to bring you a fresh update on where version 3.0 stands and where it’s headed next.

This release marks the most important update in Fossilized’s history—not just because we’re upgrading from version 1.12.2 to 1.18.2, but also because we’ve carefully prioritized which mods to include. We’ve focused on selecting mods that truly enhance gameplay while leaving out those that don’t contribute as much, all to deliver a smoother and more enjoyable experience. Plus, performance improvements are a big part of this update, addressing the heavy memory (RAM) usage issues found in the current public v2 release.

Current Status: In Testing

Fossilized v3.0 is currently in the testing phase. We are actively distributing private builds to selected users who have joined our Beta Program via our Discord server. This allows us to gather valuable feedback and fine-tune the experience before the public release.

We’ve already made strong progress by reintegrating many of the beloved mods from our 1.12.2 version.

We’re aiming for a public release by the end of 2026-2027, assuming we stay on course and the major remaining issues are resolved.

What We’re Working On Now

Here’s what’s currently active in our dev pipeline:

Final Testing Cycles
Focused on performance tuning, bug hunting, and refining the user experience.

Updated Server
A brand new server map will launch alongside the new release. This means all player data from the previous world has been deleted. However, we are considering releasing the old map as a downloadable option for anyone who wants to continue using it after the v3.0 release. If you’re interested, please let us know on Discord so we can gauge the demand.

Looking Ahead

We’re feeling confident about our roadmap and remain on track for the public release by the end of 2025. That said, quality comes first — and we’ll only launch when it’s ready.

Be on the lookout later down the line for another post where we’ll outline the mods that are returning and share a more specific release date.

If you’d like to show your support and ensure a smooth experience when v3.0 drops, consider checking out BisectHosting to host your Fossilized server. It’s a reliable way to keep the adventure going strong!
